From cowork to private office: which workspace are you?

Everyone is different, and every business is different too. Here at Spaces, we say a heartfelt amen to that: think how dull it would be otherwise? And in keeping with our penchant for variety, each Spaces comes with its own identity. Of course, you can expect certain elements to be in place wherever you are: a bright, inviting environment stuffed with designer furniture and like-minded, interesting people is what you’ll always find when it comes to our version of office space. And so is the option to order a delicious cup of barista-brewed coffee. Our buildings, however, take a distinctly individual tone – and we have a few ways to experience them too.

To cowork or not to cowork

First up is the coworking membership. With this option, you’re welcome to use your chosen Spaces as you see fit. Perhaps you’ll want to turn up on the day and find a corner that takes your fancy, or maybe you’d prefer a dedicated desk in a communal area – which is always a good way to be part of the action and one step removed at the same time. It’s nice to have a bit of background buzz to get into your groove, and you never know who you might end up talking to when it’s time for a break and a caffeine fix.

At some point during the day you might really need to step away from the crowd. No sweat: if there’s a team event or a client to impress, meeting rooms are available to book by the hour – and they come complete with all the tele- and videoconferencing facilities a tech titan could shake a smartphone at. Expect chairs that are as comfortable as they are stylish too. And speaking of phones, any conversations that need to remain confidential (or that you want to have without disturbing your fellow workers) can be conducted in one of the dedicated phonebooths dotted around each building.

That said, you may have reached the point in your Spaces relationship when you’re thinking about putting down roots. Sure, it’s fine to test the waters for a few years but there comes a time when we all need to commit. And that’s cool too. Whether it’s a few square meters or a few hundred square metres of dedicated office space you’re after, we can make it happen. And because all this can be done via the magic of fully flexible contracts, there’s no need to feel like you’ve signed your life away. After all, sometimes things change and you need to be ready to adapt. We get it.

Express yourself

We should probably point out that having your own office within Spaces doesn’t mean doing away with your individuality and reluctantly accepting some corporate cube to work from. It’s not 1993 anymore. Instead, channel Madonna and feel free to “Express Yourself” because all our offices are completely customisable. Since this is your own corner, you can also expect 24/7 access for those times when that last-minute presentation needs those final few tweaks or inspiration strikes and you just can’t wait until Monday rolls around. Needless to say (but we’ll say it anyway), you’ll also get full access to the Business Club during regular hours.

Whether you go for the coworking or office model, one thing that’s central to the Spaces philosophy is being part of the flexspace community. With a jam-packed calendar of business events with inspiring speakers, workshops and networking lunches, there’s always something worth seeing, doing, or eating. You may find a friend, or the answer to a company conundrum, or even a brand-new business partner. Basically, the community aspect of what we do is designed not only to boost your business but also to help you get the most out of your day at work. And because membership grants you worldwide access to every single Spaces around the globe, there’s bound to be something to suit. 

Wherever you go, we’ve got your back

Depending on your needs and the scale of your operation, all members can benefit from the option of admin support too. This includes call-taking and mail-handling, and the advantage of using our address as your address. Given that we tend to go for the type of neighbourhood that you’d want to visit anyway (think places that are on the up, boasting the city’s best bars and newest restaurants), this makes it a draw for you and your clients. And because we place so much emphasis on design (it’s good for productivity, as well as your Instagram feed), it’s always a pleasure to see what Spaces has done to that old warehouse in the creative quarter.
