Get down to business in Kuala Lumpur and Penang with Spaces’ double debut in dynamic Malaysia

There’s been a lot of talk about the boom in flexible working culture taking place around the world. Malaysia is no different, that’s why Spaces is entering the ring by adding some cutting-edge flexible workspaces to the mix. The country’s demand for contemporary, well-designed inspiring flexible office space is heating up. So, this autumn, Spaces is making its debut with a pair of beautiful coworking spaces in Malaysia.

Room to flex some muscle

Last year, the flexible workspace supply in the Malaysian capital of Kuala Lumpur shot up by 36% – the fastest rate of any key city in the Asia Pacific region. At the moment there are more than 170 coworking spaces in the Klang Valley and Greater Kuala Lumpur region alone.

According to Spaces’ Brand Manager for ME & APAC, Margot van der Poel, Malaysian businesses and workers are seeing the benefits of co-working spaces in helping to attract and retain talent. Employees are starting to prioritise work-life balance and opt for flexible working. This workplace revolution is an opportunity for businesses to bring more value to their employees. Spaces’ design and entrepreneurial spirit attracts like-minded professionals and corporations of all sizes to redefine work. We help businesses develop their own, unique workplace culture by providing the best possible conditions for them to work and grow in.

Double Dutch in Malaysia

A cultural melting pot of Malay, Chinese, Indian and British colonial heritage, ever-expanding metropolises, dense rainforest and jaw-droppingly beautiful beaches, Malaysia’s entrepreneurial vibe mirrors the nation’s diverse character. So, there’s not just one Spaces workspace for its Malaysia debut – it’s going for a two-pronged approach.

Coming first to Kuala Lumpur in October, Spaces Platinum Central will break two records when it opens. Not only will it be Spaces’ first ever Malaysian location, it’s going to be the biggest coworking hub so far. Launching right in the middle of KL’s busiest transit hub, Kuala Lumpur Sentral station, the gargantuan 5,516 square-metre workspace will span five floors. With private meeting rooms, a sizeable business club and café-deli run by the awesome people at Brew by Coolcats, Spaces Platinum Central will be a sophisticated business base. The local team will ensure a constant flow of events to get members mingling, including movie nights, fitness classes, networking sessions and workshops.

Decór-wise, Spaces Platinum Sentral takes inspiration from European architecture and makes full use of natural lighting to create an ambiance that is calm, inviting and professional. The exposed ceilings and engineered wooden flooring are enhanced by customised lights to add a touch of warmth to the office space. At the same time, the wrought-out iron furniture brings to life an inspiring ambiance that truly stands out.

Let’s work flexibly in Penang

Next November, Spaces Beach Street will offer a completely different kind of vibe. Coming to the state capital of Georgetown, coworking in Penang will allow you to see a creative hub open up along one of the oldest streets in the city, inside a beloved heritage building – a granite edifice that was formerly the Chartered Bank of India, China and Australia.

Members will feel inspired by the buzz of this special part of the city. “Surrounded by a vibrant district steeped in heritage and shophouses just a ten-minute stroll away, Spaces Beach Street is fully equipped with the latest technology and super-fast Wi-Fi to allow businesses to thrive and connect with like-minded entrepreneurs,” says van der Poel.

Drawing inspiration from Penang’s old colonial architecture, the first Spaces location in the region will incorporate the original building’s towering white columns into its elegant design concept. “The floor is detailed with ornamental wrought iron railings and emerald marble slab to reflect the quintessential essence of old Georgetown, its simple, elegant and timeless design inspires businesses to look at news ways of working in an office space that feels like home.”

These two rather special additions to the Spaces family are coming to Malaysia over the next couple of months – adding to the number of inspirational coworking spots around the world for nomadic Spaces members to plug in and go, while answering the call from Malaysia’s creative enterprises for incredible places to work and grow their businesses.
