Why Amsterdam is ranked the best city for Millennials

Forbes recently published an article on the top fifty places to live for millennials, based on a comprehensive list made by the apartment-picking website Nestpick. The list included cities such as Paris, San Francisco and Bangkok. Yet, Amsterdam was the city that stole the heart of all millennials and was ranked number one.

Amsterdam is known by many people and attracts around 5.3 million tourist on a yearly base. How come millennials are so fond of the city of canals? Millennials are often defined by their entrepreneurial mindset, their affinity with technology, and their revitalizing effects on cities. Therefore the list with best places to live for millennials, are based on criteria such as startup score, employment score, transport score, LGBT friendly and beer ranking. Amsterdam received a ten on their LGBT friendliness, on a scale from one to ten, with 10 being the highest, which made the city stand out between thousands of other cities.

Lucky for you, Spaces is an Amsterdam born company and has six different locations in this beautiful city. Read the fascinating perks of every Spaces location in Amsterdam below.

Herengracht

The first Spaces location ever, along the picturesque canals of Amsterdam, is where is all began. Spaces Herengracht is walking distance from Amsterdam Central Station, which makes it extremely accessible.  The Jordaan area is the most visited area of Amsterdam with its monumental architecture, the beautiful canals and the many shops and popular restaurants.

Zuidas

Spaces Zuidas is right in the middle of Amsterdam’s bustling financial district. That makes this location the ideal spot to network with interesting entrepreneurs, just like you. To give you a little nudge, Spaces Zuidas has by far the most exciting program of business and after work events. Also, to get some fresh air to clear your mind or get inspired, there are beautiful surrounding parks and nature around the corner. A very exciting brand-new feature of the Zuidas is the North/South metro route, which is the ultra quick metro system that brings you from the Zuidas to the North of Amsterdam in just 16 minutes. That’s twice as quick as before and makes Spaces Zuidas extremely attractive for those whom have to travel to meetings in the centre.

Vijzelstraat

The third Spaces in Amsterdam opened in 2014: Spaces Vijzelstraat. This location is located on Amsterdam’s main street connecting the South to the city centre, with the canals, beautiful shops and the museum district around the corner. There is a direct stop on the new North-South metro route close by and people riding bikes everywhere you look. The view doesn’t get more urban than here.

Amstel

Spaces Amstel is located across the one of the entrance and exit roads of the city, therefore there’s extremely good acces to the motorway, but also the train and tram/bus station. Yet not only the accessibility of this location is superb. The name already gives it away, the beautiful river Amstel is right besides Spaces to stroll along. The extremely spacious and bright lobby with 100 feet high ceiling, is where the business club is located and that makes it a perfect location to focus, get inspired and meet other likeminded people.

Keizersgracht

Located in a monumental building in one of Amsterdam’s most creative metropolitan environments, Spaces Keizersgracht is one of the most beautiful buildings of all Spaces locations. It’s also the latest edition of our wonderful ‘Mokum’ portfolio. Surrounded by Amsterdam’s historic canals and the arts, antiques and museum district, the famous Rijksmuseum is just a few steps away. The area is visited by many people and that makes it always buzzing.

Opening soon: Schiphol Airport

No better way for a busy entrepreneur just like yourself, to be located at the flying heart of The Netherlands. This brand-new Spaces location which is opening very soon is excellent for the nomadic millennial, as you cannot be closer to the planes than to be actually in the airplane itself.  Enjoy panoramic views of airplanes coming and going from all over the world, from almost every angle inside the building. Spaces Schiphol is the only location where the business club is located on the top floor, which makes the work environment phenomenal.  Also, your international clientele would be more than happy to hear they don’t have to travel further than the airport. Yet, with the train it’s also only 16 minutes to the heart of the city centre of Amsterdam, so no need to feel left out.

That being said, it is clear that every Spaces location in Amsterdam has their own charm. Therefore, wherever you decide to work, you will be inspired by the beautifully designed, creative space where you can be productive and meet likeminded others. Interested in working at Spaces?
