We Talked Health & Tech: the ATT 8 Recap

The eighth edition of Amsterdam talks Tech covered all the new digital developments in health. We invited speakers that are experts in various e-health sectors.

With Sprout’s editor-in-chief Remy Gieling as the evening’s host and a very interactive audience, the guests were sure to get asked of a lot of questions.

The guests were Thomas Timmers from The Patient Journey App, Nicky Hekster from IBM Watson and Robert Paauwe from Tinybots; three very different people with very different disciplines within the field of e-health.

Introductions were done and some interesting facts were shared right off the bat. For example, the Patient Journey app works with some 25 hospitals in The Netherlands and has over 30.000 downloads. IBM Watson actually creates software that is open-source. And Tinybots is ready to scale up.

The Patient Journey app is an app that helps you prepare for an upcoming operation, but also gives you info post-op for rehab purposes. It also makes it possible for your family to be part of the patient journey and benefits the doctor-patient relationship by sharing relevant information.

Tinybots uses the technology of robotica to help people that have dementia by giving them a companion and reminder in one. A small robot that keeps their mind activated and in touch with their surroundings by for example, playing their favourite music.

IBM Watson is one of, or perhaps the biggest, technology companies that make various health innovations possible.

The audience had many different questions; about how the Internet of Things can be beneficial to the e-health developments, how privacy is protected when connectivity is improved and whether technology is the focus point for health institutions. With an audience that was eager and curious, the drinks afterwards were very busy and lively.
